Biology
Could you please start enforcing sitting at university computers but only using your personal laptop a bit more. I'm dyslexic and need the library computers for claroread as I cannot afford to pay for it on my own laptop, as a dyslexic it is also a lot easier for me to read on computers due to the larger screen. If there are no computers available but everyone is actually using them then I don't mind at all, they got there before me. But when people are taking up the computers to not even use them is seriously frustrating. I feel like it needs to be enforced a bit more especially on levels 3/4 of the philip robinson as its the only area where people are quiet and there are very limited computers on these floors, but plenty of desks for people with laptops to use. Also there are a fair few computers on these floors that do not work so it would be great to get those fixed before the busy period starts.

Thanks for getting in touch and giving us your feedback. I can imagine it must be frustrating if people are taking up computer spaces but not using them, especially when you have a particular need to use a PC. We will definitely look into ways we can prompt people to be mindful and choose a study space according to their needs.

I wondered whether you were aware that we have accessible study rooms with PC’s which as a student with dyslexia you may be able to access? More about these rooms and how to become registered to use them can be found here. Also, whilst I understand you prefer to use a bigger screen, if you did need to use a laptop, our loanable laptops have Claro Read installed on them and are available as a 12hour loan.

Finally, I will pass on your comments regarding the PC's which aren't working to colleagues in NUIT who will look into this further.

Best wishes,
