Walton Library
The temperature in the library and individual study rooms is very low and I personally find this uncomfortable to work for long periods.

It would also be good to have more accessible study rooms as this is often booked out.

I would also like to give credit/praise to the members of staff at the Walton library who I have found to be extremely helpful and accommodating.

Library Response

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch with the Walton Library via Tell Us What You Think; we're keen to hear student feedback, whether good or bad.

I agree with you that the temperatures have been low recently and can only apologise and assure you that the Library staff also suffer from the same fluctuations in the temperature unfortunately. We don't have localised control over the heating and have reported this frequently to Estates who have been investigating the temperature of the building as a whole. We agree that temperature fluctuations in the weather can lead to unsuitable temperatures (in both directions!) in the Library.

Regarding study rooms, there are additional accessible study rooms at the Philip Robinson Library which may provide a short term solution. We're currently monitoring usage of the study rooms across the board to assess how best to share their usage across Library users and we'll certainly take your comments into consideration here.

Finally, thank you for your kind words on the service the Walton staff provide, I've passed this on to the team and they're all delighted to hear it, it means a great deal to them.

Thank you again for giving us your feedback,

Aimee Watson-Cook

Deputy Medical Sciences Librarian
