Toilets
Regarding female restroom in Walton Library:
Restrooms are filled with used tissues on floor and used sanitary product. This is not a cleaning crew issue, it's the students

Possible solutions:
1. Having cleaning posters, statements stating consequences can be implemented if they leave trash as its a harbour of bacteria, thus a BIOHAZARD for others and can spread diseases like AIDS, Infection, STDS, UTI, Staph
2. Implement card scanners to access bathroom to have digital log of who uses restroom and when bathroom is most active. This will encourage people to respect the public bathroom
3. Changing bathrooms trash to bigger ones or built-in trashes with easier access to throwing things in.

Please resolve this, I'm scared to use the restroom in these conditions for fear of potential disease spread.

Library Response

Many thanks for taking the time to complete a Tell Us What You Think form.  I am very sorry to hear that you have found the restrooms in the Walton Library in this condition.  I must admit that we are regularly surprised by how they are left, especially considering that most of those who use them are people who will be going on to work in healthcare settings.  We have cleaning staff on the premises in the mornings and in the afternoons and library staff check the spaces regularly too.  In the short term I will certainly look at installing bins which might encourage easier access and better use.  While installing smartcard access may not be economically viable, I will speak to our buildings manager (copied in) about signage to encourage more appropriate behaviour.

Kind regards

Linda
