There is no reciprocal agreement allowing Newcastle College FE (Further Education) or HE (Higher Education) students access to the University Library. However, Newcastle College A-Level students are eligible to join us through our 6th form access scheme: https://www.ncl.ac.uk/library/about/joining/teachers-sixth-formers
Only Newcastle College Students doing A-levels and in their 6th form can join the scheme.
To apply, students should submit a completed 6th Form Access form https://www.ncl.ac.uk/library/assets/documents/sixth-form-access-application-form.pdf , which provides us with contact details of a tutor or librarian. All Newcastle College Students have ID Badges and Lanyards and are expected to wear then at all times on site at Rye Hill. Sixth formers have a rainbow coloured lanyard.
To process the application and give out a 6th Form Access cards we MUST therefore see:
- A completed application form
- A badge ID with rainbow coloured lanyard (not grey or blue)
6th Form Access cards are only processed at Philip Robinson Library, though they can be used at all four University Libraries.
