RAS stands for Remote Application Service. It allows staff and students of Newcastle University to access University IT facilities and personal 'H Drive' documents/files from their own computers.
The use of RAS also enables automatic access to online resources (e.g. journals to which the Library subscribes) that otherwise require the user to be logged on to the Campus network or using an 'institutional login'.
