Library opening times
I love using the Marjorie Robinson library. Its an excellent place to work. Please please could you keep it open in the evenings. Perhaps it can be closed at other times but 5-10pm would be really helpful. It is a totally different space to the Robinson library and is more conducive to postgraduates. The Marjorie Robinson library is quiet and people go there to focus. The pc labs in Robinson is mostly used by undergraduates. I am forced to leave the Marjorie library and go to the Robinson and there's just people talking laughing coughing etc.

Thank you for getting in touch with us regarding the Marjorie Robinson Library opening hours. Due to University-wide budget constraints, we have been required to review staffing levels and how we deliver services across our different library sites. As part of this process, we carefully considered opening hours across all our library sites, using rich occupancy data and student feedback to guide our approach. Our analysis showed that in comparison to the Philip Robinson Library, evening usage at Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms is significantly lower. In light of this, and to ensure we continue to provide high-quality services where they are most needed, we will be focusing on staffing resources at the Philip Robinson and Walton libraries, and we have taken the difficult decision to reduce opening hours at Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms.

I understand that you value the Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms and the space it provides, and I can assure you the decision to reduce the opening hours was not made lightly. As an alternative you may consider the postgraduate study room on Level 3, or we have quiet cluster spaces on levels 3 and 4 which may suit your needs.

Best wishes,
