To find an e-journal by title, go to the Library Search front page and select e-journals A-Z (just below the log-in bar - top right of screen)If you get the message “Sorry, your request returned no results” then the Library does not subscribe to that e-journal. Use Library Search to see if we have print copies available.

If we do subscribe to the e-journal, select the journal title to produce another window that shows the e-journal’s availability – e.g. “Available from 2001 vol: 29 issue: 3”. It is important to check the availability as the Library may not subscribe to the issue of the journal that you want. Click on the link to be taken to the journal website.

Another way to find an e-journal is to use the Advanced Search facility in Library Search. Type the title you want into the search box and change the Material Type setting to Journals. Type in the name of the journal or keywords for the subject that interests you (e.g. mining engineering). You can filter the results by selecting a suitable term or terms from the list on the left hand of the screen (under ‘Refine my results’).

Please note that these instructions are only applicable to staff and students of Newcastle University. Other users are not eligible to access e-journals (with very few exceptions).
