Undergraduate smartcards have a smartcard expiry date of 30th September of their final year, meaning access to library e-resources and study spaces is available until that date. Borrowing rights, however, end in mid June (at the end of the regular assessment period).

Once the library has proof of the proposal writing your borrowing rights can be manually extended until the end of the summer vacation.

Please ask your tutor or school administrators to contact LibraryHelp@ncl.ac.uk with the following email:

  • Email Title:  Student Extension Confirmation for Academic year 2023/24
  • Email text to include the following:
    • Your name
    • student number
    • confirmation of you writing a research proposal

Your library borrowing can be manually extended until the Sunday before the start of term.  You will be able to register for your course and collect your new smartcard in September 2024.
