University smartcards must be collected in person from campus by the smartcard holder; they are never posted out and cannot be picked up by a nominated third party. This is University Policy and all departments that create smartcards must adhere to it for security reasons.

Newcastle University IT service (NUIT) have developed a digital ID for those who are off campus which can be found on the Newcastle University App. A physical smartcard is needed for access to campus buildings and to loan books and other items in the library, but the digital version should be accepted as proof of student/staff status elsewhere. Access to online University resources and applications is not affected by whether you hold a physical smartcard.

You can download the iPhone or Android app from your respective app store. Once you have set up the app, please log in with your campus ID. From the app homepage >> tap the menu icon on the top right >> tap smartcard.  It updates directly from S3P so will display the correct end date for your course or contract.
