There are a number of ways in which a book can be requested, so the time it takes for your request to be completed will depend on which type it is:

Click and Collect: is a request for a book that is on our library shelves, either the Philip Robinson Library (PRL), Walton Library, Bridge Store or Team Valley Research Reserve (TVRR) to be collected later.  Most of these requests are satisfied by the next day UNLESS the items have to move between libraries, such as PRL to Walton Library or TVRR to PRL.  Deliveries do not take place at weekends or bank holidays, so any request made on a Friday that requires transporting will not be available until early the following week.

Request a book:  When a request is made for a book that is on loan to another library user on loan (often referred to as a recall), the current user will be contacted and given 7 days to return the book you have asked for.  Although it is hoped that the book will be returned within that time it is not something that can be guaranteed.

Inter Library Loan: a request for an team not held at Newcastle University Library, this service is only available to staff and student members of the University Library.  We will apply to another library for your materials, the time taken depends on which library satisfies the request and the time limitations of post or digitization,

Every type of request will receive an email to let you know your item has arrived and is ready for collection.
