If you require your students to read a book the Library does not have in stock, you can add it to a list on Reading Lists (Leganto) and it will be ordered for you.
How do we know how many copies you will need?
Each item listed on Reading Lists should have a tag assigned to it: this tag decides the importance of the item and allows the Library to apply a pre-determined book/student ratio.
- Essential - very important to the course; all students will need to use these texts.
- Recommended - supplementary texts which students are encourages to use.
- Background - additional texts which are suggested for background subject area reading.
For each Faculty:

Print stock levels for SAgE 1:5 book/student ratio and e-book access will be pursued. | We will purchase 1 copy of all background items and e-book access will be pursued. | Print stock levels for HaSS 1:10 to 1:50 and Law 1:25 book/student ratio and e-book access will be pursued. | We will purchase 1 copy of all background items and e-book access will be pursued. | Print stock levels on a 1:8 book/student ratio and e-book access will be pursued. | We will purchase at least 2 copies of all background items and e-book access will be pursued. |
If you have any questions about ordering items for your reading list, please contact readinglists@ncl.ac.uk for support.
