Graduates of Newcastle University and King's College Durham may join the Library as Community Alumni members for an annual fee of £20. This includes borrowing facilities in all three Libraries, access to Special Collections and use of Wi-Fi and some databases (it does not give access to University IT or remote online resources).
Community Alumni members are entitled to borrow 8 long loan items, though if you do not need borrowing rights, a Consultation smartcard is available FREE of charge. Alumni members can use their own device in the library connected to “WiFi Guest” network, however, due to publishers' licences, access to most electronic resources are restricted to current Newcastle University Staff and Students
You are required to upload an passport style photograph suitable for your smartcard and 2 forms of ID, your Library membership and Smartcard will be processed and prepared prior to your first visit.
Please allow time for your application or renewal to be processed, you will be contacted at every stage of the membership process, the final email being confirmation that your smartcard is ready to collect.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Community Alumni and Consultation smartcards are for access to the University Library during core desk services opening hours, they do not open night doors on campus or give out of hours Library access. Access during library self service days (including the Winter Break) is only for current Newcastle University staff and students. Please check our opening hours BEFORE your visit to Newcastle: https://www.ncl.ac.uk/library/visiting-the-library
Newcastle University Library reserves the right to reject applications or refuse entry.
