If you see an 'Illegal Institution' message, it likely involves your Internet browser not storing third-party cookies.
Try one of these options to override this restriction.
Internet Explorer:
- Click on the cog icon in the top right hand corner.
- Then select internet options.
- On the new window which has appeared, click on the Privacy tab. Then choose advanced.
- You can tick to override automatic cookie handling and then select to accept third party cookies.
- A more secure solution would be to add the reading list system as an exception. To do this, from the privacy tab, click on sites.
- Enter eu01.alma.exlibrisgroup.com (Alma) in the address of website section.
- Click Allow, then OK and Apply/OK to save the changes.
- Try accessing the Reading List through the VLE again; if this does not work then please contact reading lists .
Chrome:
- Open the menu in the top right hand corner by clicking on the three dots.
- Choose settings from the list.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list which has appeared and choose Advanced.
- A new section appears called "privacy and settings".
- Within that section select "content settings".
- From there, select Cookies and check whether third party cookies are blocked.
- You can choose to unblock all third party cookies, but a more secure option would be to add the reading list system as an exception.
- To do this, click on ADD on the allow line.
- Enter eu01.alma.exlibrisgroup.com (Alma).
- Close the settings tab and try accessing the Reading List through the VLE again; if this does not work then please contact reading lists
Firefox:
- Click on the settings option in the top right hand corner (icon looks like 3 lines) and choose Options.
- From the navigation bar, choose Privacy.
- Check whether third party cookies are blocked. You can allow them all by default but a more secure option is to add an exception for the reading list system.
- To do this, click the exceptions button and add eu01.alma.exlibrisgroup.com (Alma).
- Then click on Allow and then Save changes.
- Close the Options tab and try accessing the Reading List through the VLE again; if this does not work then please contact reading lists
We recommend using Chrome as your default browser for this service.
