Book Retrieval Service for users registered with Student Wellbeing
Anybody who is registered with Student Wellbeing has access to an extended reservations service. If you need help in retrieving books from our shelves, you can choose the method that suits you.
1. Using the Reservation Service
You can place reservations on books that are on the shelf. This is in addition to the standard service that allows you to reserve books already on loan to another customer.
You will be able to request 20 items in total at any one time. Please note that only Long Loan items are requestable in this way. Student Text Collection items and reference items cannot be reserved in this way.
To do this, you need to login to Library Search and find the book you want. A "Request this item" button will be displayed. Click on this button, and then the orange "Request" button for confirmation. You will receive an email telling you when the book is ready for collection from the usual Reservation shelves.
We will notify you if there is likely to be a significant delay.
You can check My Account on Library Search to monitor the progress of all your reservations.
You have 5 days to collect an item from the Reservation shelf. If you are not able to get into the Library within 5 days, please contact Library Help and ask if this period is extendable.
2. Using Library Help
You may prefer to contact Library Help for assistance in retrieving books from the shelves.
For example, if you have a very tight deadline please contact Library Help and we can discuss when we could have the items ready for collection.
Alternatively, you may need to browse a range of books on a subject before you can select individual titles. Again, contact Library Help and so we can discuss your needs.
What are the extended loan periods for users registered with Student Wellbeing?
Extended loan periods are available on most categories of books to users registered with Student Wellbeing.
Recalled items cannot be extended and must be returned by the due date; otherwise, overdue charges may be levied.
Extra borrowing is also available, but must be approved by your Liaison Librarian.
