If you are unable to Cite While You Write (CWYW) when using EndNote Online, then you may have the tool disabled so it does not appear in Microsoft Word.

Try this:

  1. Click on File
  2. Click on Options
  3. Click on Add-ins
  4. At the bottom of the window, change the Manage: option to Disabled items and click on Go
  5. Highlight any EndNote or EndNote Web items and click Enable
  6. Click on OK

Close everything down and open it up again. The CWYW tools should appear in Word as normal.

If you do not have the tool installed at all and are working off-campus, here is what to do:

  1. Log in to your EndNote Online account
  2. Click on Downloads
  3. Click on Cite While You Write Plug-In
  4. Download the appropriate plug-in for your device
  5. Complete the installation

Close everything down and open it up again. The CWYW tools should appear in Word as normal.
