Converting your document to plain text is useful if you need to make manual edits to your text or share your document with others. This process creates a duplicate copy of your document that removes all EndNote field codes meaning it can no longer be edited with EndNote.
To convert your document into plain text:
- Open your document in Word (ensure you have saved any changes)
- Select the EndNote ribbon
- Click on Convert Citations and Bibliography > Convert to Plain Text
- A pop up window will appear telling you that it will open a new window with a duplicate, unsaved copy of your document with all EndNote markers removed. Click on OK.
- Save the plain text version
- You should now have two versions of your document
