To insert a citation without the author or the year

  1. Place your cursor where you want to add the citation.
  2. In the Endnote tab click the 'Insert Citation' button.
  3. Select the reference you want to add to your document.
  4. Click the small black arrow beside 'insert' and select as required:

To remove an author or date from a citation already in the document

  1. In word, highlight the citation you want to change.
  2. Click on 'Edit and Manage Citations' in the EndNote tab. A box will appear like the one below.
  3. Beside 'format', click on the arrow next to 'default' and from the drop down menu, select how you want your citation to display e.g 'Exclude Author', 'Exclude Year' etc.
