When using an author-date style such as Cite Them Right Harvard you may want to format your in-text citations so that the author's surname is included in the main sentence text rather than in the citation brackets.

To insert a citation without the author:

  • Place your cursor where you want to add the citation.
  • In the Endnote tab click the 'Insert Citation' button.
  • Select the reference you want to add to your document.
  • Click the small black arrow beside 'insert' and select as required:
     

 

To remove an author from a citation already in the document:

  • In Word, highlight the citation you want to change
  • Click on 'Edit and Manage Citations' in the EndNote ribbon 
  • In the pop-up box that appears, select 'display as Author(Year)' or 'exclude author' from the formatting drop down box:
