To create a standalone bibliography, you will need to select all of the references you want to include in the bibliography in EndNote. This is easier to do if you have pulled these references together into a group, or if your library contains only these references.

To create an EndNote group with references for your bibliography:

  • right click on 'My Groups' in the left-hand menu in EndNote and select 'create group'
  • name your new group
  • drag and drop required references from your library into your new group

To create the bibliography:

  • Ensure the correct referencing style is chosen within EndNote.
  • Highlight all the references in your library or group as appropriate.
  • Right click and select 'Copy Formatted Reference'.
  • Open a blank Word document, ensure the correct referencing style is selected in the EndNote tab.
  • Paste the references into the blank document.

If you've been asked to create an annotated bibliography, you can now type your annotations under each reference as required.
