It is good practice to carry out your Medline and Embase searches by inputting the relevant terms into each rather than re-executing the search. As you point out many of the re-executed terms will not work. You may also miss some useful elements, e.g. a term in Medline may not need to be exploded but in Embase it may have useful narrower terms which could be missed if you re-execute.
