NB: different operating systems and different devices (e.g. iPads, Smartphones) will have slightly different ways of managing the procedures outlined below. If you are having difficulties, ask for assistance at your nearest IT helpdesk.

Students and staff of Newcastle University

Connect by selecting newcastle-university from the list of available networks. Use your campus log-on to identify yourself.

If you have any problems accessing the wireless network, please go to your nearest IT helpdesk or ring 5999.

Visitors from universities participating in the EduRoam scheme

EduRoam allows its users to access their home drive and other resources available on their own university's network.

Select eduroam from the list of available networks.

Enter your home university username and password (include the domain as part of your username: e.g. q991234@northumbria.ac.uk).

If you have problems using EduRoam, the nearest IT helpdesk will try to assist you.

Other users without a Newcastle University login

The University Library has a new way for external users to access Wi-Fi across Campus. This is in partnership with The Cloud. To get connected:

  • From your device select the WiFi Guest network
  • Open a web browser (if you see a certificate notice, accept to proceed)
  • On The Cloud landing page find Get online at Newcastle University and click Go
  • Scroll down to Create Account
  • Enter your details and connect to WiFi Guest

Set up your account ahead of time: https://service.thecloud.net/service-platform/login/

Problems connecting? Visit www.thecloud.net/free-wifi/support or call the IT Service Desk on 0191 208 5999.
